I know that geothermal is the best, but it is very expensive. There is an air-source heat pump is worth the money in a propane gas furnace than 90 percent?

Air to air heat pumps are a good choice for Michigan winters. Normally, an electric heating element is activated when the heat pump can be maintained in periods of extreme cold. Heat pumps are expensive to install and may force more service and repair bills of a traditional furnace air. Always follow the KISS rule on important decisions. (Keep It Simple, Stupid) Go to the tried and true, which is fuel oil or propane gas. Fuel costs are anything but stable recently so I do not know what a winter to another. If they are bad, you can always install a pellet stove or corn is the cheapest option. Good luck.
My experience with heat pumps (air-air) do not work well when the temperature is below 25 degrees F. At this point, with the back-strip electrical heater.
